Hyram M. Montero, Founder & CEO

For nearly four decades, Hyram has devoted himself to both representing and mediating on behalf of his clients in the most complex of cases throughout Florida, the nation and internationally.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Hyram is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and The John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the Illinois and Florida Bars in 1980 and 1982, respectively. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is licensed in both Florida and Illinois.

In 1989, Hyram founded Broward County’s first multilingual law firm. During his career, he has tried over 400 jury trials and 250 non-jury trials and is a trusted leader in mediating complex disputes. He is recognized in the International Who’s Who of Professionals.

Career
Highlights.

In 2013, Hyram received one the largest verdicts in Florida. The aviation case representing a client who sustained catastrophic injuries resulted in a $100 million dollar verdict.

Hyram is also a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which recognizes excellence in advocacy and limits its membership to trial lawyers who have achieved verdicts, awards, or settlements in an amount of $1,000,000.00 or more.

Hyram has also been recognized by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate for his special knowledge, skills and proficiency as a civil trial lawyer.

Advocacy

Aside from devoting himself to representation of his clients, Hyram is also very active in the community serving several local nonprofit organizations in the area including:

Take Stock in Children, Board Member

Take Stock in Children fosters mentorship programs between professionals and students in the public schools of Broward County, Florida. It offers a comprehensive program that helps low income children succeed by providing college and vocational scholarships, volunteer mentors, early intervention and long term support. Hyram has been actively involved in mentoring children, adolescents and young adults for over 25 years.

Hispanic Unity of Florida, Executive Board Member Emeritus

Hispanic Unity of Florida is a private, non-profit human services agency that serves the needs of immigrants in South Florida. The organization helps tens of thousands annually through job placement, English language education, acculturation programs, legal assistance, financial literary, and health screenings.

Light of the World Clinic, Board Member & President

Light of the World Clinic is a health clinic offering free medical assistance to the uninsured in our community. By providing free medical services to the underserved, the Clinic provides early medical intervention by treating and stabilizing hypertension, diabetes, coronary disease, obesity and other diseases.

Fourth District Court of Appeals, Member Senior Judges Review Board

Senior judges are a vital judicial resource. Senior judges are retired judges called back to service to help the state process legal cases in a timely manner. Under the state Constitution, the chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court has “the power to assign justices or judges, including consenting retired justices or judges, to temporary duty in any court for which the judge is qualified.” The chief justice also has the authority “to delegate to a chief judge of a judicial circuit court the power to assign judges for duty within that circuit” (Article V, section 2(b), Florida Constitution). The judges who are assigned to temporary judicial duty are known as senior judges. The Senior Judges Review Board assists with this process.
